Samuel Associates Inc.
To honour the firm’s clients and recognize the diligence of its employees and Senior Associates over the past year, Samuel Associates organized a charity golf tournament and dinner on the eve of CANSEC 2022.
Clients, Associates, staff, and friends of the firm competed in an 18 hole, two-person scramble format yesterday afternoon at the Rivermead Golf Club in Aylmer, Quebec. Later in the evening, golfers traded their clubs for forks and knives as up to 80 guests enjoyed a buffet-style dinner in the Rivermead Pavilion and on the nearby outdoor patio.
Guests were entreated to a performance by the RCMP Pipes, Drums, and Dancers of the National Division [Ottawa], who have been delighting audiences in the National Capital Region since their formation in the Spring of 2000. The RCMP team came fresh off a performance welcoming The Royals Prince Charles and The Duchess of Cornwall on their most recent visit to Ottawa to meet with the Governor General Mary Simon and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Yesterday’s festivities came with the purpose of supporting the Aman Lara charity, Aman Lara, meaning “Sheltered Path” in Pashto, is a Canadian non-profit organization that evacuates at-risk civilians from nations facing crisis situations. The organization will be represented by Major General (Retired) Dean Milner. General Milner is an esteemed Canadian veteran who commanded troops in Joint Task Force Afghanistan 5-10, deployed from September 2010 to July 2011. He held responsibility as the 6th Deputy Commanding General-Canadian of III Corps at Fort Hood from May 2013 to March 2014 Major General Milner commanded the NATO Training Mission – Afghanistan. Since its inception, Aman Lara has helped thousands of Afghans escape the Taliban and find safety in the West. As the Russia-Ukraine War rages, Aman Lara has also commenced operations in Ukraine to evacuate civilians with a path to resettlement in Canada.
Over the course of dinner, a few members of the RCMP Pipes, Drums, and Dancers shared a poignant moment relaying their war-time involvement working directly with Afghan interpreters while deployed overseas. Such connections underscored the close interconnectivity between the event, guests, and their life experiences supporting the cause of freedom and Canadian values.
“Our firm is proud to partner with Aman Lara, and whole-heartedly support its charitable mission evacuating at-risk civilians from warzones in Afghanistan and Ukraine”, said Goran Samuel Pesic, President and CEO of Samuel Associates. “As we gather in anticipation of CANSEC2022, the presence of veterans, friend, family and the RCMP performers at our golf dinner reminds us of the goals of the security and defence sectors: ensuring peace, freedom, and the safety of our loved ones.”
