Role Overview: We seek a highly experienced and dedicated Senior Associate with expertise in Indigenous Affairs to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Indigenous history, culture, and socio-political context and experience in engaging and building relationships with Indigenous communities and stakeholders.
This individual will have a unique opportunity to shape our practices and policies related to Indigenous matters and to contribute to our strategic initiatives.
1. Serve as an internal Subject Matter Expert on Canadian Indigenous issues, providing strategic advice, insights, and guidance to the leadership team, clients and stakeholders.
2. Develop and implement Indigenous engagement, reconciliation, and partnership-building initiatives.
3. Assist in shaping clients’ RFIs, RFQs and RFPs, federal social procurement policies and strategies on Indigenous matters to ensure they are culturally appropriate, inclusive, and respectful.
4. Foster strong relationships with Indigenous communities, organizations, and government bodies.
5. Conduct sessions for staff, associates and clients on Indigenous cultural competency and related topics.
6. Lead client research projects on Indigenous issues and provide insights to support decision-making processes.
7. Assist in the development and implementation of corporate social responsibility initiatives.
8. Coordinate with other staff members and associates to ensure the integration of Indigenous perspectives in all aspects of client work.
1. Bachelor's Degree in Indigenous Studies, Social Science, Business, or related field. Master's Degree or higher would be considered an asset.
2. Minimum 5 years of professional experience in Indigenous affairs, with a proven track record of successfully managing relationships with Indigenous communities.
3. Strong understanding of Indigenous cultures, histories, and current issues.
4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts in a clear, concise manner.
5. Demonstrated leadership skills with a history of driving change and innovation.
6. Proficiency in one or more Indigenous languages would be a significant advantage.
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating a high degree of initiative, resilience, and problem-solving capability.
